Title: Chance to experience the Spitfire without the cost!
Post by: RFCXO on February 26, 2010, 03:09:22 PM
If you have ever wondered what it might have been like to fly the most beautiful piece of aviation art, can I suggest a trip to www.amazon.co.uk and pick up a copy of a game called "IL2 - Sturmovik 1946" It has a realistic flight model that has been designed by pilots and gives you the ability to "fly" the Spitfire in numerous marks, as well as other aircraft including axis. Please don't take this as a sales pitch or scam. I run a website for combat flight sim enthusiasts and this is one of the arenas that we compete in. As an amateur pilot myself, I can say that the flight model is pretty good and although I have never been lucky enough to fly a spit, the sounds and foibles are apparently all there.

This is the address of my site, and although I know that the RFC had become the RAF by the time the Spitfire came along, we also compete in a WW1 sim.
