Title: Spitfire VB? . . .
Post by: JULES on June 26, 2014, 04:39:40 PM
Hi All, Please see attached photograph . . . any comments? (Who/What/When/Where etc. etc.)  Fuselage markings are RF-D, and tail reg is EN951.

It is the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's AB910 painted in the markings of Jan Zumbach's EN951.

EN951 was the last of three Spitfire Mk Vbs flown consecutively during Zumbach's third (I think) combat tour with 303 Squadron, all coded RF*D.The other two were BM144 and EP594. The three are often confused with each other.

Hi Antoni,  I can guarantee you faithfully (with 100% certainty) that the photo is NOT AB910 (I am familiar with that aircraft and its many guises).  Yes, AB910 carries RF-D, but retains it's smaller AB910 serial number.  This aircraft is definitely marked EN951.  Best wishes, JULES
