Title: New-be Question:Primer?
Post by: Styrenejunky on April 07, 2009, 07:29:28 PM
Hello all,
In trying to find an answer, I found this cool site. I'm building an Academy Mk.XIV Spitfire - a Belgian bird in silver paint. I'm guessing they would have primed before painting the silver. Do you know what color the primer was? I'm thinking of maybe going for the worn-through weathered look.  I haven't been able to find anything on the web. I saw the primer/camo post. I'm guessing it would be the same primer for silver & camo, but I don't know for sure.
Thanx, Daveout...

Hi

On the full size ones we have built we use an overall etch primer then a light sealer coat then the top coat of paint.

All of itop coat Semi Matt !!!!. A good number of people  make the error of painting them gloss this was not a common

practise as of course it caused unwanted reflections and hence made the aircraft more visible.
