Hi,
Does anyone recall a Spitfire that used to stand in a field behind a cottage somewhere near Tewksbury?
As a child in the 1950's, my Mum and Dad used to take the family to Weston-Super-Mare two or three times a year. No M5 then, so we used to go Evesham, Tewkesbury, Bristol etc. Every time we went, I made my Dad stop the car so we could look at this beautiful silver Spitfire. There was never anyone around and my Dad used to lift me up onto the wing to look into the cockpit. It seemed to be there year after year - never knew who owned it or what became of it. I recently tried to find the location again, but no dice. Any ideas?
