Someone mentioned to me that Spitfires used to be manufactured ..or at least some part of the plane was produced near Lydney Docks in the Forest of Dean.
Anyone know if any truth to this?

Hi picatus thats interesting to hear,I know a lot of stuff was subcontracted out during their production,so it sounds quite feasible  that it may be correct.I only found out a couple of years ago that a small engineering company not far from me at Whitney-on-Wye subcontracted to Rolls-Royce during the war making crush washers for Merlins and Griffons.Amazing what happened on your doorstep isn`t it?.
