I just joined this forum, thanks for the opurtunity. I have the new Tamiya Spit and would like to do the "clipped wing" version. My question is were any of these painted with the green and brown, grey/sky underneath.  I've done some research (not my long suit), and haven't found any evidence of one.

Thanks for your help

Without going inte detail: NO, the Mk IX wasn't camouflaged in green/brown/sky (like Battle of Britain machines for instance). Of course it it impossible to say that there didn't exist one but lets say like this: 99% of the Spitfire IXs serving in the European theatre were camouflaged in Dark Green / Ocean Grey upper surfaces with Medium Sea Grey lower surfaces.

Best regards

40 squadron SAAF based in Italy 1945 flew LF (clipped) Photo Recon IXs with a dark earth and dark green over azure blue scheme.
