Hi,
Has anyone got a clue as to the serial numbers where broad chord rudders began to be fitted to Mkl.IXs?  What subsequent serial ranges did the change apply to?

Supermarine didn't work their modifications by serial nos, but by dates.  Mod 914 "To introduce the Mk.XII rudder as standard on VII, VIII, IX, XI aeroplanes" was cleared for production from February 7th., 1944.  There's a note, against the mod, which says that it's essential if mods 1414 or 1335 are embodied; these mods were for the introduction of the fuselage fuel tank, which didn't really happen until the post-war XVI, but I've included it, for interest.
