Hi everyone

I'm new to the forums, so am hoping that someone out there might be able to steer me in the right direction to find some more information. I'm currently researching, for a forthcoming book, a section dealing with the impact of the FW190 on the Spitfire units operating over Occupied France. I've been writing up the cases of the three FW190s which landed in the UK by mistake after becoming disoriented in combat, but I'm trying now to home in on the first reports of the type when encountered in earlier dogfights. The most promising is a reference to camera gun footage from a Mark V Spitfire of 129 Squadron which showed the 190 clearly enough to prove it was not a Curtiss Hawk or a Bloch 175 taken over from the French - a comforting explanation from Intelligence but clearly disproved by the performance and the armament of the new adversary. Any ideas on how to track down more details ?

Thanks in advance for any help !
